Dr Hemmingsen attended Otago University Medical School, doing all of her training in Dunedin. She then moved to Lower Hutt after graduation.
Dr Hemmingsen worked in Hutt and Wellington Hospitals from 2006 to 2011 and started GP training in 2012 where she was a registrar at Ropata for the second 6 month placement.
Dr Hemmingsen particularly enjoys general family medicine eg fertility, pregnancy, child development, contraception etc
Her interests outside work are her family – husband and 2 children, travel, baking.
