You may have seen recent media coverage regarding a cyber security incident involving Manage My Health, the online patient portal used by many general practices across New Zealand, including Ropata Health.
We want to reassure our patients that this incident is being actively investigated by Manage My Health, alongside independent cyber security and forensic specialists, and in coordination with relevant authorities.
What we know so far
- Manage My Health became aware of the incident on 30 December 2025 and took immediate steps to secure the platform.
- The Office of the Privacy Commissioner, Health New Zealand, and New Zealand Police have been notified.
- Current investigations suggest that approximately seven percent of registered users may have been affected.
- There is no evidence at this stage that the core patient database was accessed.
- There is no evidence of patient information being altered or deleted.
- There is no evidence that usernames or passwords were accessed.
The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided by Manage My Health as confirmed information becomes available.
What patients can do
As a precaution, Manage My Health recommends the following steps to support your online security:
- Update your Manage My Health password regularly.
- Enable multi factor authentication using a supported authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
- Review general online security guidance provided by Own Your Online, a New Zealand Government initiative.
